Coaching and Volunteering

How can I volunteer?

Volunteering for Eastside Little League is one of most important opportunities there is. Each year we ask family members and the members of the community to offer their assistance to make Eastside Little League possible, so we can keep our fees reasonable. We are asking again for at least one parent of each player to volunteer during the 2026 spring season.

There are several areas of volunteering available, from being a Coaching (Most Important) or Assist Coach, Field Maintenance (we get no assistance from the city, except to mowing the grass), Concession Volunteers (part of our fundraising efforts), Special Events (Opening day activities, Redwing game, C.U.R.E Childhood Cancer day, etc.)

How to Volunteer:

 1) Register your child to play and indicate you are willing to volunteer. Coaches, Assist Coaches and Team Mom need to complete area for background check since you work directly with the players.

 2) All other parents wishing to volunteer will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule volunteer day and time.

 3) Most Important: “SHOW UP WHEN SCHEDULED”.

Thank you in advance for Volunteering for Eastside Little League. With you assistance 2026 will be a successful year for you and most important your player.

Do coaches need previous baseball experience?

While experience is helpful, it’s not required. Training is often provided by the league, and a willingness to help and promote a positive environment is most important.

Rules and Safety

What are the primary safety rules?

Little League prioritizes player safety by requiring the use of approved equipment, enforcing pitch counts, and following concussion protocols. Coaches and volunteers are trained on these safety measures.

What is the pitch count rule?

Pitch count rules limit the number of pitches a player can throw in a game and require specific rest periods between pitching appearances. This prevents overuse injuries and helps ensure young arms are protected.
